Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) is preparing to host the inaugural ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) Asia Pacific Chapter Summit 2019, 5–6 December. The Summit will be organised by the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter and co-hosted by PCEB and Anderes Fourdy, a Malaysia-based PCO.

/ Bullish growth for business events
THE business events industry in Penang is heading towards breaking the RM1.5bil mark in estimated economic impact (EEI) this year. Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran said the bureau was targeting an EEI of RM1.6bil for 2019.

/ World congress on IT to descend in Penang next year
Penang has won the hosting rights for the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), taking place from September 13-16, 2020. WCIT2020 is expected to attract 4,000 visionaries, government leaders and academics from more than 80 countries. The theme will be Connecting the World with The Promise of Technology for a Better World.

/ Penang’s MICE sector reports 31% growth in latest review
Penang’s business events sector achieved an estimated economic impact (EEI) of RM1.3 billion (US$322.7 million) for the year 2018, a 31 per cent increase from 2017, announced Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) in its annual review.
